Saskatoon Parents of Twins & Triplets Organization (SPOTTO)

Multiple Expectations Classes

SPOTTO’s Multiple Expectations information sessions are held approximately 4 times a year, for parents expecting twins, triplets or more.  Sessions are scheduled based on the demand.
The session is fairly casual, with three mothers of multiples giving advice and answering questions about what to expect during pregnancy, labour/birth and the first few years with your multiples. Some of the topics covered include:
- Expectant mom tips
- Development in utero
- Possible risks of a multiple pregnancy
- Nutrition for multiple pregnancy
- Bedrest
- What to expect during labour and delivery
- Preterm and low birth weight
- First few weeks at home
- Breastfeeding multiples
- Partner’s roles
- Postpartum Depression
- Safety tips
- Clothing and equipment – what do you really need?
The three ladies that run the class all had very different experiences with their pregnancies and births of their multiples, and therefore have first hand experience in many different areas from potential complications during the pregnancy, to premature labour, to potential complications during labour, to premature babies in the NICU, and more.
The information session is usually 3 hours long, typically in the evening on a week night. You need to join SPOTTO when you sign up for the session, and there is an additional charge of $10 per couple to help cover expenses – printed literature will be provided. Our SPOTTO library is available to lend additional books, magazines or videos, and as members you will have access to many resources on the MBC website.
If you are interested in attending one of these info nights, please contact SPOTTO to find out when the next session will be held.
